The Detroit Lions absolutely humiliated the Philadelphia Eagles on Thursday afternoon, making the visitors look like turkeys on Thanksgiving with a 45-14 win. Detroit rolled up 430 yards of offense, including 108 rushing yards for a team that struggles to get 50 on most days.

Philadelphia could not get anything going on either side of the ball throughout the contest. Mark Sanchez avoided throwing an interception but was mediocre otherwise and under constant duress, being sacked six times. The Eagles are now 4-7 and are basically out of the playoff race before December begins.

Highlights

Three Stars

1. Matthew Stafford

Stafford has been discussed as a potential cut in the offseason for the Lions, but the Ford Field crowd got to see why he will likely stick around long-term. Stafford completed 27-of-38 passes for 337 yards and five touchdowns without an interception.

2. Calvin Johnson

Johnson caught eight passes for 93 yards against the underwhelming Eagles secondary, and capped off his day with three touchdowns. Johnson has been talked about as an aging player over the last year, but he showcased why he remains one of the top players in the game.

3. Ezekiel Ansah

Ansah was incredible throughout the day, basically setting up camp in the lap of Sanchez. The former first-round pick notched 3.5 sacks on the afternoon, putting Philadelphia in a bunch of tough positions. Ansah has been stepping up this season in the wake of Detroit losing Ndamukong Suh and Nick Fairley this offseason.

Odds

Detroit was favored by 2.5 points and easily covered the spread against a hapless Philadelphia team.

Next Week

The Eagles are visiting the undefeated New England Patriots while the Lions host the Green Bay Packers.
