Allen Hurns is out of the woods after suffering a brutal concussion in the Jaguars’ loss to the Chargers.

Jacksonville Jaguars wide receiver Allen Hurns endured a major scare in his team’s loss to the San Diego Chargers. He left with a concussion in the fourth quarter, and he was carted off the field. He gave two thumbs up while being wheeled away though, and he has since been released from the hospital.

The Jaguars receiver attempted to make a diving catch, but he fell hard on his helmet on the field turf. His head had to be stabilized before he was taken off the field, and the Jaguars were unable to pull out a comeback victory for him. The Jaguars pulled within a touchdown with just over a minute left, but their onside kick proved to be unsuccessful.

It remains to be seen whether this concussion will affect Hurns’ playing time in the future, but it appears that it was nothing serious since he was promptly released from the hospital. It would have been too much of a safety risk to keep Hurns on the field though, as he would have clearly not passed concussion protocol. He has been one of the Jaguars’ key receivers throughout this season, as he has come up with 48 catches for 758 yards and seven touchdowns. The Jaguars offense has been on the rise with Hurns and fellow wide receiver Allen Robinson cementing themselves as the starters, and they have greatly aided quarterback Blake Bortles in his second-year jump.
