Michigan State head coach Mark Dantonio texts former Spartan and Washington Redskins quarterback Kirk Cousins “You like that?” after Big 10 Championship.

Mark Dantonio’s Michigan State Spartans clinched the Big 10 Championship with a 16-13 win over the Iowa Hawkeyes in Indianapolis to earn the No. 3 seed in the 2015 College Football Playoff. Dantonio told the media in his press conference Sunday that he had a little fun celebrating the Spartans’ huge victory. He told the Associated Press that he sent a text to former Spartan and Washington Redskins quarterback Kirk Cousins, “You like that?”

The text stems from Cousins’ comments he made in the tunnel after his Redskins beat the Tampa Bay Buccaneers earlier this year, blurting out, “You like that? You like that!” after Washington’s big victory.

While Michigan State began its climb to national prominence when Cousins played quarterback for the Spartans, it wasn’t until after he went to the Redskins in the third round of the 2012 NFL Draft that Michigan State became a fixture in Top 10 of Division I college football.

Michigan State played in the Rose Bowl against Stanford after the 2013 season and in the Cotton Bowl against Baylor after the 2014 season. The Spartans went on to win both major bowl games and now find themselves in the 2015 College Football Playoff, playing No. 2 Alabama in the Goodyear Cotton Bowl Classic on New Year’s Eve.

With Cousins’ Redskins in control of the NFC East at 5-6 and his Spartans playing in the second annual College Football Playoff, he probably does like that, a lot. Cousins’ Redskins will host a division rival in the 3-8 Dallas Cowboys on Monday Night Football in Week 13.

With arguably the easiest remaining schedule in the NFL, the Redskins could very well win the NFC East and make the NFC Playoffs. Cousins is having a great 2015 by winning the starting quarterback job away from teammate Robert Griffin, III, seeing his Spartans play in the College Football Playoff, and possibly his Redskins win the NFC East.
