Nick Saban’s Tuesday press conference before New Year’s Eve’s Cotton Bowl Classic was shamelessly interrupted by the whistle of a passing train.

Nick Saban held his press conference on Tuesday leading up to Alabama’s College Football Playoff Game against the Michigan State Spartans on Thursday, New Year’s Eve. Mid sentence on something about freshmen, a passing train whistled by the press conference and Saban’s concentration was lost, his facial expression, priceless.

Alabama is the No. 2 team in the nation behind only the top-seeded Clemson Tigers. The Crimson Tide are about to take on a formidable Big Ten Champion in Michigan State. Only two days remain from playing for a chance to get to the College Football Playoff National Championship game in Glendale, Arizona. All focus is on the task at hand for Saban…and then a train goes by unexpectedly.

Saban goes from startled like anybody would react to an unexpected roll by coming from a train. He then gives somewhat of a glance that somebody messed up, knowing that a train would pass by at that time. Then Saban comes to grips that his Cotton Bowl Media Press Conference now has to deal with a side of train for the rest of it.

Even one of the greatest head coaches in college football in Saban can’t prepare for everything, especially trains going by in the Dallas area in the final 72 hours leading up to the Cotton Bowl. The biggest question is if Michigan State head coach Mark Dantonio will have to deal with trains in his press conference or will he be able to avoid the interruptions of passing locomotives all together?

Saban and his staff surely have all the x’s and o’s figured out for New Year’s Eve’s Cotton Bowl: likely handing the ball off to Heisman Trophy winning running back Derrick Henry a bunch and using a defense that will send 11 starters to the National Football League. At least Saban won’t have trains to worry about in AT&T Stadium on Thursday, or will he?
