The Cleveland Browns promoted Sashi Brown to run their front office — so who exactly the hell is he?

The Cleveland Browns took a flamethrower to their coaching staff after Week 17, and promoted a mystery man to ru the front office moving forward. After firing Ray Farmer as general manager — reportedly before the games against the Steelers — the Browns unsurprisingly canned Mike Pettine and are looking for their next regime.

It’s a vicious cycle of suck for the Browns, who are yet again looking for the right regime to lead the team into the future. Owner Jimmy Haslam wasted no time in making the first personnel move of the offseason by promoting Sashi Brown to run the front office in Cleveland.

So how exactly is Sashi Brown?

He’s not a name that you should be familiar with, as he has just three years of football experience. But everyone who has talked about Brown indicates that he’s a very analytics heavy executive — which is a welcomed change to the way the Browns have haphazardly been running things for the last two decades.

Of course, it’s almost irresponsible to not point out what is really at play here. It’s clear that Haslam wants a puppet in the front office who will answer to him. He wants to be Jerry Jones and has begun to jerry-rigging a front office that will flow through him, with bodies to blame if things go wrong.

That’s what is really going on here and it’s ignorant to not acknowledge that. There’s a decent chance that Sashi Brown is a smart executive, but God knows we won’t find that out until after Haslam fires him and he lands with a team that is competent.
