Vikings kicker Blair Walsh missed the game-winning kick in the NFC Wild Card game and Twitter reacted accordingly

The Minnesota Vikings put themselves in a position to win their NFC Wild Card game against the Seattle Seahawks as they had the ball in the red zone with less than a minute on the clock down only 10-9 and with kicker Blair Walsh, who had scored all nine of the Vikings points to that point, lining up for a chip-shot 29-yard kick. Then things derailed.

With the game and Minnesota’s playoff lives on the line, Walsh hooked the kick wide left and the Seahawks got the ball back with neither team having any timeouts:

The Vikings fans are no strangers to heartbreak (looking at you, Brett Favre and Gary Anderson) in the postseason. However, that doesn’t make this one hurt any less or make the Vikings any less of a punch line for NFL fans. Subsequently, it was less than surprising after the Walsh miss that Twitter had a field day with the inept missed field goal.

The reactions ranged from memes, to lamentations, Ace Ventura “laces out” jokes, and much more, with all creating a full, entertaining picture of the sentiment around the field goal from fans and non-fans alike:

Have another frozen beer, Vikings fans; you need it.
