Jim McElwain stuffed a natty right down Will Muchamp’s throat on Monday night.

Having Jim McElwain and Will Muschamp on the same broadcast, in the same room, across a conference table from one another during ESPN2’s CFP Film Room broadcast was already awkward enough. However, while heading into halftime Coaches Mac and Boom engaged in a cringe-worthy conversation about the elongated break.

For the uninitiated, that would be McElwain, offensive coordinator for the 2009-10 Alabama Crimson Tide, reminding Muschamp, defensive coordinator for the 2009-10 Texas Longhorns, that the Tide beat the Horns in the 2010 BCS National Championship Game. And that’s Muschamp sitting there, taking the verbal pummeling like a man and willingly admitting that his team came up short.

The 2010 title game showed promise in the beginning, with Texas leading, 6-0, after the first quarter. However, Longhorns quarterback Colt McCoy was knocked out of the game with an arm injury, which left his team equally wounded. Alabama would go on a roll, scoring 24 unanswered second-quarter points, en route to a 37-21 victory.

Mac was quick to remind Boom about the lopsided victory. Probably was also kicking Boom under the table thanking him for flaming out with such a talented team in Gainesville and making Mac’s first year on the job easier than it ever appeared under Muschamp. Just a smiling assassin that McElwain is.
