Mackensie Alexander will be heading off to the 2016 NFL Draft, ending his career at Clemson.

Yet another star-studded name will be leaving the world of college football and heading off to the 2016 NFL Draft. On Wednesday, as many had expected, Clemson Tigers cornerback Mackensie Alexander announced that he will be forgoing the rest of his eligibility to enter his name into the 2016 NFL Draft.

Alexander, one of the best defensive backs in all of college football, will be looked at as a potentially high pick for any team that’s looking for help in the secondary. In the past two seasons, Alexander totaled 44 tackles with four of those going for a loss. He did not record an interception, but make no mistake about it, that was not for lack of trying.

The Clemson star is one of the best cover corners in the college game, so most of the time offenses were afraid to put the ball near his location. He would continually lock down some of the best receivers in the ACC, so it wasn’t even worth trying to test him.

If there is one question that will be surrounding Alexander, it’s his health. Heading into the recent National Championship Game against Alabama, Alexander was questionable with a hamstring injury. While he did start the game, he was pulled in the first half after he ended up injuring his other hamstring, ironically enough.

But if he does get healthy within the next few weeks, some NFL team will be getting themselves a lockdown corner.
