According to a report, the Los Angeles Clippers have interest in Sacramento Kings forward Rudy Gay.

It’s trade rumors season in the NBA with the trade deadline not far away and if there’s any player that could be potentially moved, there is a very good chance that there are already rumors surrounding them. One player that could be on the move is Sacramento Kings forward Rudy Gay.

While the Kings are in contention for the final playoff spot in the Western Conference, they wouldn’t be sacrificing their two top players in DeMarcus Cousins and Rajon Rondo. The Kings have to have their future in mind as well and they have two players they can build around.

While Gay has regressed a bit this season, he is still a big forward that could score the ball and he could be more beneficial to a team that is more in contention. According to ESPN’s Chris Broussard, that team could be the Los Angeles Clippers. Broussard states that they have interest in Gay, but their interest isn’t strong enough to obtain him.

A deal between the two sides would also be incredibly hard to work out. The Clippers are cash strapped with a roster of max contracts and what they would have to offer back to Sacramento in terms of contracts and assets wouldn’t be exactly appealing for the Kings.

It’s easy to see why they would be interested though. Gay can score the ball and he can cover some of the bigger forwards that will dominate come postseason time. He’s one of the better players that could be on the move and he would be a big addition for any team that lands him.

The Clippers might have interest, but not enough to make anything happen right now.
