The LSU Tigers put together a top five recruiting class according to Scout in 2016, but ultimately relinquished the top spot on National Signing Day.

The LSU Tigers had the No. 1 2016 recruiting class heading into National Signing Day, according to Scout.com. The Tigers still finished with two five-star commitments and seven inside of Scout’s Top 100 in their 2016 recruiting class of 24 young men.

15 of head coach Les Miles’ signees were four-star prospects and seven were three-stars. 11 project to play on offense in Baton Rouge for the Tigers, 12 will play on the defensive side of the football, and one will go to work on special teams in the No. 4 recruiting class in the nation in 2016.

LSU would have finished in the top three had some of the last minutes targets not commit to other Power 5 power houses like the Alabama Crimson Tide, the Clemson Tigers, or the Ole Miss Rebels. Regardless, it seems that Miles’ Tigers have done a fine job of reloading in 2016.

The two five-stars committed to LSU are defensive tackle Rashard Lawrence and cornerback Saivion Smith. Getting No. 3 cornerback in the nation Kristian Fulton’s commitment on National Signing Day was huge, as he will join Smith who is No. 2 in the defensive backfield to form a dynamic outside duo in the LSU secondary for the next few years.

Here is a look at who all committed to play college football for LSU on National Signing Day 2016:
