According to Chris Mannix, the Boston Celtics are aggressively pursuing Denver Nuggets forward Danilo Gallinari.

The trade deadline is drawing near and the Boston Celtics are the team that everyone is watching in the NBA. With a bevy of draft picks and assets, the Celtics are expected to make a splash soon and it’s going to be interesting to see whether or not they go in for the big splash soon or take a more modest approach as they hold off on going all in on a player.

One player that wouldn’t be the big splash, but would certainly add a big piece to the roster is Denver Nuggets forward Danilo Gallinari. Sports Illustrated’s Chris Mannix was a guest on 98.5 The Sports Hub in Boston and said that the Celtics were aggressively pursuing Gallinari.

Mannix noted that things haven’t gotten past the conversational phase, but that Gallinari is indeed someone that Boston likes. It makes all the sense in the world for the Celtics to have interest in adding Gallinari to the roster for Boston. They can keep the Brooklyn pick for a bigger superstar in all likelihood and slide in a scorer that can put up 20-plus points per game.

That doesn’t mean it’s going to be easy to land him in Boston. Mannix noted on the show that Gallinari is one of the players that Denver wants to build around. He’s just 27 years old and the Nuggets are going to keep adding pieces around him with another expected decent pick in this year’s draft.

Celtics general manager Danny Ainge isn’t one to rush a deal either unless he likes it. He plays a slow game and strikes at the right time. He certainly isn’t looking at sacrificing the Celtics’ future over a player and when he’s ready to make his splash, he is going to.
