Brandon Sherrod made his 30th consecutive field goal against Columbia proving that Yale’s pretty good at basketball.

Brandon Sherrod is forcing people to pay attention to Yale, even if he has to do it all by himself. Ever since January 16 against Brown, Sherrod hasn’t missed a single field goal attempt, and early against Columbia, he set a new NCAA record with his 27th straight field goal:

"HISTORY! 27 CONSECUTIVE made field goals for @Yale_Basketball‘s Brandon Sherrod, a new NCAA record. https://t.co/O5GIDKkGT0— FS1 (@FS1) February 5, 2016"

He has since reached the 30 mark in the same game. Say what you will about the quality of competition in the Ivy League, that’s damn impressive.

The Ivy League has proven to be stiff competition in past years in the March Madness tournament. They don’t typically progress very far, but they’re not exactly an easy out. Harvard’s been able to spring some upsets recently, but at a 9-11 record, they’re unlikely to get back this year.

Yale, meanwhile, have rode Sherrod’s consecutive field goal streak to an unbeaten conference record and a 13-5 record overall. If they do end up getting a tournament bid this year, they shouldn’t be a team to take lightly. We’ve seen people single-handedly take their team far in the tournament before (Steph Curry with Davidson comes to mind) and Sherrod is capable of doing the same with his team.
