Though they haven’t filed charges, the Dallas Police Department has opened a criminal investigation regarding Johnny Manziel

The news that neither the Dallas Police Department nor the Fort Worthy Police Department would be filing charges against Cleveland Browns quarterback Johnny Manziel seemed a bit jarring given the reports of the recent alleged domestic assault incident with his girlfriend. However, Manziel is far from out of the woods in a legal sense as the Dallas Police have now made a statement saying that they’ve opened a criminal investigation into the domestic assault allegations surrounding Manziel.

On Friday evening, the Dallas PD released a statement saying that they have launched the investigation with Manziel as the suspect, stating that detectives will now examine the case and see if any charges will be filed:

So while there were no charges filed earlier in the week, Manziel could very well see charges come his way in the coming days depending on the findings of this now ongoing investigation. It’s impossible to say what’s going to happen at this point, but that Manziel is specifically listed as the subject of the now open investigation doesn’t look good for him.

Given the fact that the quarterback has had so many run-ins with trouble dating back to his days at Texas A&M and given his own father’s recent comments that he’s worried that his son won’t make it to see 24 years old, it’s obvious that Manziel has some serious problems that need to be addressed—regardless of the outcome of this investigation.
