Panthers linebacker Thomas Davis played Super Bowl 50 with a broken arm and posted a picture after the loss to prove it

The Carolina Panthers were outplayed in Super Bowl 50 by the Denver Broncos, but it was far from being because of a lack of effort from their defense. Josh Norman almost had a handful of interceptions, Luke Kuechly made some monster plays, and so on. However, Thomas Davis may have had the most impressive performance by just showing up and playing on Sunday.

Davis suffered a broken arm in the NFC Championship, but swore then that he was going to play in the Super Bowl and, even after surgery to repair his arm, maintained that position. Sure enough, when it was time for the kickoff of Super Bowl 50, Davis was in pads and ready to roll. Just the thought of him playing through a broken arm is absurd.

With what his arm looked like, though, it’s even more absurd. After the loss to Denver, Davis posted a picture of his arm sans a brace and it’s truly miraculous that he played an entire football game with the injury after you see it (Warning: If stitches or injuries make you queasy, don’t look at this):

Thomas Davis is ridiculous. There is no way a human being whose arm looks like that should be able to play football at all, much less in the Super Bowl. Yet Davis did and helped keep the Panthers alive on the defensive side of the ball.

Even if he didn’t get to lift up the Lombardi Trophy, that show of toughness from Davis and the humility that he showed in his caption with that picture make him a winner in my book.
