No. 10 West Virginia Mountaineers vs No. 6 Kansas Jayhawks

After losing to Florida in a non-conference battle a couple of weeks ago, the West Virginia Mountaineers, put together two solid wins against Top 25 opponents. The Mountaineers beat both Baylor and Iowa State last week to remain in the lead in the Big 12. Currently, the Mountaineers lead the way in conference play with an 8-2 record.

Senior guard Jaysean Paige is having a breakout season, averaging 14.2 points, 3.7 rebounds and 1.4 steals per game after putting up under six points per game as a junior. He’s been a large reason for all the success, as have guys like Devin Williams, Daxter Miles Jr. and Jevon Carter.

Kansas, on the other hand, has been one of two teams in the Big 12 who everyone has really given their best shot against — the other being Oklahoma. The Jayhawks are considered one of the top dogs and they’re looking to take their three-game win streak into Allen Fieldhouse and take care of business against a top-10 opponent at home.

Perry Ellis, who seems like a seventh-year senior at this point, is the team’s vocal, and statistical, leader. Ellis leads the team in scoring with 16.7 points along with 6.7 rebounds per game. He doesn’t shoot many threes, but when he does, he makes them — he’s sinking 47 percent from long range. People have been waiting for stud freshman Cheick Diallo to break out, but he’s getting just nine minutes per game.
