According to Chris Mannix, Al Horford to the Boston Celtics “is a legitimate possibility” and could be their next big move.

The Atlanta Hawks are in an interesting place with their roster currently. They have plenty of talent on the roster, but the team overachieved last season and they could very well trade off some of their pieces for more young talent going forward to pair with the likes of Dennis Schroder and others on the roster.

Their have been reports out recently that the Hawks could be looking to move Al Horford. Horford is set to be a free agent after the season and could very well want a deal with the incoming salary spike much like the $146 million that Anthony David received from the New Orleans Pelicans.

However, Horford is begging the downside of his career and his numbers are starting to regress a bit. With all these things being factored, the Hawks could be willing to move Horford at the trade deadline instead of risking losing him in the off-season.

One team that could be interested in Horford is the Boston Celtics. Not only could they be interested in acquiring Horford, Chris Mannix of Comcast Sportsnet New England and Yahoo’s The Vertical, thinks it is “legitimately possible” that the Celtics land Horford.

While the Celtics could be reluctant to part with something significant for a player that couldn’t re-sign, Mannix feels the Celtics would easily give Horford the money that he commands in the off-season. Mannix also states that Horford would be perfect for the system in Boston as well.

While the Hawks would probably command the top assets from Boston, it would be interested to see if Boston is willing to pay it right now or wait until free agency when they wouldn’t have to give up anything to get Horford.
