Sacramento Kings center DeMarcus Cousins got off to a terrible start in the Skills Challenge, but recovered nicely.

To make the Skills Challenge more fun during NBA All-Star Weekend, the NBA decided to incorporate big men into the challenge. With the competition generally being for guards in the NBA because of speed being the key to win, there was a lot of intrigue going into Saturday night’s event.

While all the talk was about Karl-Anthony Towns upsetting Isaiah Thomas and winning the competition for the big men in the NBA, there was a hilarious moment involving DeMarcus Cousins as he battled Anthony Davis early on in the challenge.

The start of the skills competition involves dribbling and weaving through the obstacles on the court. Before he could even do that, Cousins fumbled the ball right off of his foot, proving that big men aren’t as adept at the Skills Challenge.

Somehow after dribbling the ball off of his foot, missing all the chest passes and jogging down the court, Cousins sunk a three to win and advance to the next round, where he was ultimately defeated by Towns.

The good news is that for as embarrassing of a moment as this was for big guys, Towns picked Cousins and the rest of his fellow big men up by winning the competition.
