The Milwaukee Bucks inquired about a deal that would have landed  them Dwight Howard from Houston.

While there was a ton of buzz round Dwight Howard and where he would land before the trade deadline arrived, it turns out he’ll be staying in Houston for at least the rest of this season. that doesn’t mean teams weren’t blowing the Rockets up about a potential deal, ranging from obvious contenders to some surprising dark horses.

One of those dark horses were the Milwaukee Bucks.

The name that everyone was focusing on in Milwaukee was Greg Monroe, but according to Adrian Wojnarowski from The Vertical, the Bucks made calls to Houston about potentially acquiring Howard before the deadline passed.

Obviously a deal didn’t happen and Howard will remain in Houston. But it’s interesting to hear that the Bucks were at least intrigued enough to make a call about landing Howard. What makes it interesting is that Howard was going to be a rental player at best for anyone who acquired him. Milwaukee was supposed to be a contender this year after they took a high dive by signing Monroe seemingly out o the blue.

Thinking that they might have been able to land Howard implies that there might be some buyout action from Milwaukee as they try to put together a roster they think can win this year. Howard wasn’t going to instantly make the Bucks NBA Finals contenders, but the fact that they were in the mindset to make a giant splash like that might be foreshadowing to future moves that the Bucks make.
