Dustin Johnson went for it at No. 15 on Sunday at The Masters with a gorgeous shot

After Jordan Spieth collapsed, The Masters 2016 opened up in a major way for guys like Lee Westwood, Danny Willett, and Dustin Johnson. While Westwood and Willett both made their moves, Johnson needed to make something happen if he wanted to stay in contention. That’s exactly what he elected to do on No. 15 at Augusta as he made a gutsy call at the Par-5.

For his second shot, there was a grove of trees standing between Johnson and the trees after he put his drive on the left side of the fairway. That meant many people thinking he was going to lay up and play it safe. As it turns out, Johnson had other plans as he simply just let it rip and somehow weaved through the trees and found the green with his second shot:

Not only is the execution of that shot flawless, but the confidence it takes just to take that gamble is remarkable. If you have that kind of confidence, though, I guess that’s how you end up putting for eagle.

Johnson would ultimately miss his eagle putt and have to settle for a birdie, but that pulled him right to the top of the leaderboard with three holes to play and with plenty of chances to win his first Major Championship under his belt.
