Starting in 2017-2018 the Charlotte Hornets will reportedly be getting a Michael Jordan logo on their jerseys.

Nike will be the maker of all NBA jerseys beginning in the 2017-2018 NBA season. Replacing the Adidas logo on each jersey will be Nike’s trademark swoosh logo which will adorn the jerseys of every NBA team except for one: the Charlotte Hornets.

The Hornets jerseys will reportedly be getting a makeover that involves Nike’s infamous soaring Michael Jordan logo as a tribute to the Charlotte Hornets majority owner.

This is a really great idea. It’s an awesome way to honor Jordan and how much he has done for Nike. Jordan helped make Nike the elite sportswear provider in the 1980’s with the release of his Air Jordans, which are arguably more popular today than they were back then. Nike eventually created the “Jordan Brand” because Jordan was so popular. His influence on the company goes far beyond his shoes. Jordan’s apparel was also a top seller for the better part of two decades.

Jordan is the majority owner of the Charlotte Hornets and has been the spokesman for a variety of companies, including Nike, Coca-Cola, Gatorade, McDonalds, and Hanes. He has helped each of those companies increase their revenue. Using Jordan’s brand should help the NBA sell even more Charlotte Hornet jerseys. It’s a classy gesture that also makes a ton of sense from a business standpoint. Using the soaring Jordan is a good idea for everyone involved.
