NFL Draft Rumors: Browns looking to trade down again in first round

The Cleveland Browns are rumored not to be done trying to trade down in the first round of the 2016 NFL Draft

Before the 2016 NFL Draft was even close to getting underway, the beginning of the first round already got crazy. It got started with the Los Angeles Rams trading up to the No. 1 overall pick with the Tennessee Titans, but the Cleveland Browns and Philadelphia Eagles weren’t far behind as the Browns were content to accrue picks to let Philly move up to No. 2. On Draft Day, though, the Browns are rumored to possibly not be done moving back in the first round.

According to a report from Ian Rapoport of NFL, the Browns have talked to teams around the league about the possibility of trading down in the first round yet again. Moreover, the Browns have also been talking to teams about the potential of moving from the second round into the late first round:

Rapoport’s inference that this might be about drafting a quarterback is interesting, though you have to wonder how far they’d be trading back in the first round (or where they’d be moving up to) and what quarterback the Browns would expect to be there. After all, the consensus seems to be that a team will reach a bit on Paxton Lynch, which leaves the likes of Connor Cook or Christian Hackenberg. Why would the Browns really want to move up from No. 32 and the first pick of the second round and give up even one asset for one of those guys?

This feels like the most Browns thing ever at this point and would only make me more pessimistic about this draft for Cleveland. They made a wise choice to get more picks by trading with the Eagles considering their plethora of holes on the roster. However, chatter like this only makes it seem like they’re overthinking it all and are about to whiff on their top picks yet again.
