Chris Jones bear hugs Roger Goodell (Video)
After being selected by the Kansas City Chiefs early in the second round, Chris Jones bear hugs NFL commissioner Roger Goodell.
It must be an incredible feeling to hear your name called out as a draft pick of an NFL team. Whether it be the first overall pick, the mediocre fourth round or a seventh round flier, the adrenaline rush, the excitement and anticipation must build to an almost explosive level when you answer the phone with an NFL GM on the other end.
Chris Jones experienced such jubilation and joy after John Dorsey and the Kansas City Chiefs selected him with the 37th overall pick of the 2016 NFL draft, and the big, defensive tackle was unable to contain his excitement as he entered the stage in brash manner, bear hugging Roger Goodell with a tough shoulder to the chin and showing off his impressive size and strength.
It is an intriguing pick from Kansas City. With Jaye Howard recently signed to a two year deal and Allen Bailey already tied down to a long term contract, the organization has a significant amount of cap space invested in the defensive. With Dontari Poe, one of the best nose tackles in the league, set to hit the free agent market next year, John Dorsey will have been worried about committing too much money to one area of the roster.
The pick of Jones is clearly looking towards the future and has put a huge smile on Dorsey’s face. It will also leave Goodell with a decent bruise on his.
