Former 49ers star Dana Stubblefield has been arrested on charges of raping a “developmentally delayed” woman

In a bot of horrific news on Monday, former San Francisco 49ers standout Dana Stubblefield has been arrested on charges of raping a “developmentally delayed” woman, according to the San Jose Mercury News.

According to the report, the woman was at the Stubblefield residence on April 9 of 2015 to interview for a babysitter position that was needed, and that’s where the alleged sexual assault incident took place.

Deputy District Attorney for Santa Clara County Tim McInerney had this to say about the charges and subsequent arrest of Stubblefield.

“This was a crime of violence against a vulnerable victim,” McInerny said in a brief statement. “She was looking for a job and she was unconscionably assaulted.”

Immediately following the incident on April 9 of 2015, it was reported to the authorities, leading to the news of the eventual arrest today.

As for the charges that Stubblefield are facing, he’s staring in the face of five felony counts related to sexual assault, and should he ultimately be convicted, will be spending quite a while behind bars in prison. Bail for Stubblefield is $250,000.

Stubblefield spent 12 years in the NFL, but made a name for himself playing for the 49ers from 1993-97 after he was drafted by the team in the first round of the 1993 NFL Draft.
