This is up there with the most bizarre off-field injuries around.

Michigan running back Drake Johnson suffered an odd injury last month, as he was run over by a forklift at the University’s indoor track building, according to the Detroit Free Press.

The Detroit Free Press obtained the police report of the incident, where the driver of the vehicle stated that he; “felt a bump, stating he thought he ran over a starting block, when he saw Drake Johnson, a student-athlete, roll from under the forklift. And (the driver) realized he had ran over Drake Johnson who was sitting on the track floor stretching.”

Johnson was taken to the hospital and checked for injuries, but all signs point toward him not being serious injured. At the time of the incident, Michigan head football coach Jim Harbaugh called it a miracle that Johnson was not more seriously injured.

“He’s doing well,” said Harbaugh. “I can tell you this, it would have killed a lesser man, but he is blue twisted steel, very flexible and amazing. But it’s one of those miraculous things and he is doing well.”

A miracle indeed. Johnson obviously has to be in peak physical condition. He got RUN OVER BY A FORKLIFT, and still seems to be just fine! Amazing.

Coming off of a strong season in 2015, Johnson figures to be heavily in the backfield mix with the Wolverines next season. De’Veon Smith will likely enter the season as Michigan’s starting running back, but he is the only player on the depth chart ahead of Johnson.

Assuming there are not any lasting injuries from this incident, Johnson will be among the top options for the Wolverines at the running back position.
