Dallas Cowboys could be in pursuit of Tampa Bay Bucs’ backup quarterback Mike Glennon.

With the Tampa Bay Bucs’ Jameis Winston showing potential to be a franchise quarterback, this leaves Mike Glennon on the back-burner once again. According to 24/7 Sports, the Cowboys have a standing trade offer that could bring Glennon to Dallas.

Glennon has never had consistent playing time except for 2013 where he started 13 games for the Bucs. He threw for 2,608 yards, 19 touchdowns and 9 interceptions. Glennon is entering his fourth year in the NFL out of NC State and during his playing time, he has shown signs of being a good starting quarterback.

Glennon is 6’6 and 225 pounds with a strong throwing arm. These tools could land him in Dallas where they are in need of a backup quarterback who is not named Kellen Moore. Tony Romo suffered two collarbone injuries last season, which cost him basically the entire season. Romo will enter the 2016 season at 36-years-old and who know’s how long he can stay healthy.

The Cowboys finished with a 4-12 record last season and could not find a quarterback that could fill in properly when Romo went down. They had three quarterbacks make a start last season after Romo; Brandon Weeden, Matt Cassel and Kellen Moore. The question is, how many games could they have won if they had a better quarterback?

Of their 12 losses, they include many that could have been won. The Seahawks beat the Cowboys 13-12 with Cassel throwing for 97 yards and no touchdowns. The Bucs defeated them 10-6 with Cassel throwing for 186 yards and no touchdowns. The Jets beat them with Kellen Moore throwing for 158 yards and 1 touchdown. These are only a few examples but there are many more. It is safe to say with a quarterback of Mike Glennon’s status, these games could have been won easily and their record would have been better.

So, while many people may not know who Mike Glennon is, they will know soon when Romo goes down with an injury and he steps in and leads the Dallas Cowboys.
