According to a report, the Los Angeles Lakers aren’t giving up on the Kevin Durant chase just yet.

In just a couple of days, all eyes will be on Kevin Durant when free agency begins in the NBA on July 1. The biggest free agency that the league has seen since LeBron James, Durant is going to have every team chasing him even if he is only going to meet with just six teams.

One team that doesn’t have a meeting with Durant is the Los Angeles Lakers. Despite the fact that they don’t have a meeting with Durant, the Lakers aren’t giving up on their chase for the superstar.

According to ESPN’s Chris Broussard, the Lakers plan to contact Durant when free agency begins and they believe still that they can get a meeting with him.

"The Lakers intend to contact Durant and his representatives July 1 and are confident they will get a meeting, the source said.“I can’t imagine Durant wouldn’t talk to us,” the source said. “That would shock me.”"

While the Lakers are confident that they can land Durant and they have the cap space and young talent to be an appealing place, the team isn’t as close to a championship as some of the other destinations on the market for his services.

The Lakers are an organization that will always believe they are in on every player, even if they don’t get a meeting with all of them. There’s nothing really to see here, as they would be crazy to not give it one last shot when free agency begins.

Even if he turns them down then, they still aren’t going to abandon their pursuit of him.
