Identifying the top high salary and value catcher plays from around Major League Baseball for your July 1 DraftKings lineup.

Our goal is to help you win DraftKings contests with consistently strong lineups. To accomplish that, we’ll be highlighting some higher salary players worth paying up for, and some value picks that will help you save salary in key areas. These picks are specifically for DraftKings lineups, so all references to prices and fantasy points are based on DK figures.

As always, be sure to double-check final MLB lineups and monitor weather situations before locking in your DFS lineups.

High Salary

Buster Posey, Giants (5,000): Posey won’t come cheap if you plan to roster him on Friday. In fact, he’s priced at 6,000 more than any other catcher. That’s a byproduct of his matchup in hitter-friendly Chase Field against struggling right-hander Shelby Miller (2-7, 6.79 ERA). Posey’s talent needs no introduction, but it’s worth noting that he’s 5-for-10 with a home run over his last two games.

Brian McCann, Yankees (4,300): McCann’s home runs seem to come in bunches — he hit two in Wednesday’s game, and two back on June 19. Home runs might be hard to come by in Petco Park, but McCann is always a viable play against right-handed pitching. San Diego Padres righty Colin Rea (4-3, 5.05 ERA) has struggled recently, so McCann is worth a look.

High Value

Jason Castro, Astros (3,700): Like McCann, the lefty-hitting Castro does most of his damage against right-handers. He’s had plenty of individual success against Chicago White Sox right-hander Miguel Gonzalez (1-3, 5.17 ERA), going 4-for-12 with three doubles and a home run against him.

James McCann, Tigers (3,100): McCann’s average is floating dangerously close to the Mendoza Line (.201), so that makes him better served for GPP lineups. But his numbers against Tampa Bay Rays lefty Drew Smyly (4-for-5, two home runs) are just impossible to ignore. On the season, McCann is hitting a respectable .255 against left-handers. He’s definitely worth a roll of the dice.
