Let’s look at the MLB Trade Rumors and try to pin-point some trade options for the first-place Chicago Cubs.

Despite a tough recent stretch, the Chicago Cubs currently sit at 52-31, narrowly the best record in all of baseball. Natural regression and multiple injuries have hurt the Cubs recently, but they are arguably the most talented team in baseball.

That being said, there is always room for improvement as the Cubs are serious contenders to make their World Series dreams happen in 2016. Theo Epstein and company are unlikely to sell off their future in exchange for an improved chance to win this year, but they will not hesitate if they think the deal is right.

When healthy, the Cubs have an impressive roster where it is difficult to see any glaring holes. The offense is loaded and their starting pitching has been great. Improvements could certainly be used in the bullpen, but that is the only glaring need.

That being said, if the Cubs think that 2016 really is the year, they should not hesitate to make any move that would significantly improve their chances to win it all.

Bullpen help is the most obvious area of need, but I would not be surprised to see the Cubs also look for starting rotation depth. Also, if a trade for an impact bat happens to make sense for them, do not be surprised if the Cubs go ahead and pull the trigger.

Here are five trades that the Chicago Cubs should make prior to the July 31st MLB Trade Deadline.
