Jarrett Stidham, who started three games as a true freshman for the Baylor Bears during the 2015 season, will transfer from the program.

In recent weeks, there has been an exodus when it comes to recruits who were committed to the Baylor Bears football program. In light of a major coaching change that saw head coach Art Briles let go following an investigation into the handling of sexual misconduct issues regarding players, the Waco, Texas college seems to have become a place no one wants to come near.

Several players have also announced their intentions to move on, and now the quarterback position has seen a player defection. Jarrett Stidham, who was thrust into the starting lineup midway through the season, announced on social media that he is heading to a different, unnamed school:

Stidham entered his true freshman season in 2015 as the backup to Seth Russell, but entered the starting lineup when Russell suffered a neck injury during the Bears’ game against Iowa State last October. In his first start against Kansas State, Stidham threw for over 400 yards and three touchdowns, along with one rushing score, in a win over the Wildcats.

He would injure his back the following week in a loss to Oklahoma, but stayed in the game and was able to play the following weekend against Oklahoma State. In that game, Stidham would injure both his hand and ankle and be sidelined for the remainder of the season.

Stidham originally was committed to Texas Tech out of high school, but did not release what school he would consider transferring to. He will have to sit out one season if he transfers to a FBS program, but can play immediately if he goes to the FCS level.
