The Los Angeles Rams selected QB Jared Goff with the first selection in the 2016 NFL Draft, and Todd Gurley could not be happier.

Heading into the 2016 NFL Draft, the Los Angeles Rams had two star quarterbacks to choose from. Jared Goff and Carson Wentz were projected to go one-two in the draft, but it was unclear who would be the top selection. The Rams picked Goff, and his running back could not be happier.

Speaking on Friday’s edition of NFL Total Access, Gurley raved about new QB Jared Goff and is clearly pumped up about playing with him.

“Great kid. Couldn’t ask for a better QB. We are just excited to have him (here),” Gurley said, via NFL.com. “He’s definitely learning. He’s getting better. Just excited to play the upcoming season with him.”

Gurley had an incredible rookie season last year, as he picked up the NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year. In total, Gurley rushed for 1,106 yards, scoring 10 touchdowns, all despite playing with on an offense with a terrible passing game.

The Rams went 7-9 last season under Head Coach Jeff Fisher, who has to want more production out of the quarterback position in 2016. The Rams finished last in the NFL in passing yards, as their quarterbacks threw for only a collective 2,805 yards total.

Goff is expected to come right in and start for the Rams, who made the move out of St. Louis to Los Angeles this off-season. He has all the tools to be a big-time starter in the NFL, and with Gurley, the Rams have two very exciting young pieces on offense.

He will be expected to produce early, as the bright lights of Los Angeles will be clamoring for a winner out of their new football team.
