During the Rose Bowl postgame, star running back Christian McCaffrey was interrupted by a guy yelling “HEISMANNNN!”. McCaffrey liked that guy.

In the 2016 Rose Bowl, the Stanford Cardinal beat the tar out of the Iowa Hawkeyes. Heisman hopeful Christian McCaffrey had a flawless game, rushing for 172 yards on only 18 carries and catching four passes for 105 yards and a touchdown.

The postgame interview was about the only thing that didn’t go perfectly for McCaffrey, as he had some random Stanford fan yelling “HEISMANNNN” right next to his ear.

That dude was bold, and has been ridiculed and celebrated in the time since that fateful night. Today at Pac 12 Media Days, McCaffrey let us in on a secret: he really liked it.

According to McCaffrey, true fans bust in wherever they feel like and unleash verbal Bautista Bombs whenever they feel like it.

McCaffrey arguably deserved the Heisman last year. He had an obscene amount of production for Stanford, with 2,015 yards rushing, 645 yards receiving, and 13 total touchdowns. He was the focal point of Stanford’s offense the entire year, and still rushed for over 2,000 yards. He’s an early frontrunner for the 2016 Heisman Trophy, and he’s all over preseason awards lists.

Stanford may or may not be as good as they were last year, but McCaffrey is an NFL-caliber talent. He’s a complete three-down back who can carry the rock, catch passes, block, and think on his feet to bail his team out of trouble. He’s also a prolific returner. It’s not an exaggeration to say that he is Stanford’s entire offense, and he’ll be even more of a household name in 2016.
