EA released the second DLC for Star Wars Battlefront earlier this summer. We now have some more news as to what’s in store for the rest of the summer, as well as a release date for the Death Star expansion pack.

Not too long ago, Battlefront’s Bespin expansion pack was made available to the masses. The DLC included new maps, new heroes, new unlockable weapons, and a new mode of gameplay.

Earlier this week, EA gave some insight into more additions that are about to come to the game, some in the not too distant future.

First off, Battlefront will be gaining an offline mode on July 21 called Skirmish. This mode will give players “the option to play offline against bots in a solo mission or with a friend using co-op split screen.” Players will be able to choose their preferred level of difficulty and between two game modes: Walker Assault and Fighter Squadron.

EA states that Skirmish was developed in response to players wanting more offline options. However, just being able to play Walker Assault against computers is a far cry from the single-player campaign that most Battlefront fans are yearning for. Still, Skirmish could potentially be a great addition for those who wanted more exciting local co-op options, as most of the current ones are repetitive and unsatisfying.

EA also promised some more free in-game events, including some of the following:

  • July 15 – July 18: Star Wars celebration weekend: All players have access to new expansion pack heroes and receive bonus credits upon logging in.
  • July 19: New Hutt Contract added
  • Aug. 19 – Aug. 21: Bespin open trial weekend
  • Aug. 30: New Hutt Contract added
  • Sept. 12 – Sept. 18: Bespin open trial weekend
  • Sept. 23 – Sept. 25: Death Star double-score weekend: Players get double the credit in honor of the release of the new expansion pack.

That’s right, the Death Star expansion pack will be available on Sept. 23 for season pass holders. The DLC includes more new maps – on ground and in space – new weapons and Star Cards and two new heroes including one larger-than-life character we know you’ve been patiently waiting for.” I’ll let you guess who this larger-than-life hero might be, but I’ll leave a hint here for those who want it.
