WWE Rumors: Daniel Bryan backstage at July 18 RAW, to be named Smackdown GM
By Jack Crosby
Monday night on RAW we could see the official announcement that Daniel Bryan is the new Smackdown GM
There are a few WWE RAW shows that you actually look forward to throughout the year, and without question Monday night is one of those shows, especially with the RAW and Smackdown general managers being revealed for the upcoming brand split this week.
And if you’re a Daniel Bryan fan, you especially won’t want to miss RAW this week.
According to a report from PW Insider, Bryan is currently backstage at RAW in Providence, Rhode Island. With this being the case, it’s also expected that he will be Shane McMahon’s pick for new Smackdown Live general manager.
Last week Vince McMahon announced that Shane would be the child running the new version of Smackdown while Stephanie would be the one running RAW. But, from there, the boss dropped the bombshell that this week on RAW each would have to name their own general manager. This is where the Bryan whispers began.
Not long after RAW went off the air last Monday night, the WWE app accidentally ran a headline that seemingly gave away Bryan being the one to run the Tuesday night brand. They quickly retracted the headline, but not before most of the internet could get a look at it.
From this report, though, it looks like the snafu has not led the company to change their minds. In addition to Bryan’s new gig of Cruiserweight Classic commentator –which he’s absolutely killing, by the way– it does look like he will be the one making the decisions on Smackdown. We’ll see on Monday night when the announcements of the GMs take place to open the show.
