New coach Jim Grobe stated that there isn’t a culture of bad behavior at Baylor, which didn’t go over very well.

Art Briles’ departure from Baylor was an ugly divorce, and one that came in the wake of sexual assault allegations. Baylor officials failed to take any action against players who were accused of rape and other assaults, which led to the swift departure of Briles, Ken Starr, and Ian McCaw.

Art Briles doesn’t have many fans out there, but count new Baylor coach Jim Grobe among them. Despite the terrible period that Baylor just endured, Grobe tried to convince people at his media day that it was the exception rather than the rule, and that what Baylor went through is a problem that “every university in the country” deals with.

Here are his comments provided by ESPN:

"We don’t have a culture of bad behavior at Baylor University. The problems that we’re dealing with at Baylor and have dealt with at Baylor, to this point, are problems that are probably at every university in the country. I wouldn’t say every one, but I would guess that most universities are having some of the same issues that we’ve had at Baylor. The majority of our kids are great kids — I mean great kids… And it’s a shame when a few guys can really hurt a large group of people in a devastating way, really. I’m here to help. I’m here for the players first and foremost and secondly to help this coaching staff get back on track."

As you can imagine, those comments did not go over well at all, and people on Twitter were quick to point out just how wrong Jim Grobe was in his assessment.

As you could probably guess, those aren’t exactly programs that “every university in the country” deals with.

Baylor has become one of the most scrutinized programs in the NCAA, but judging by how easily Grobe’s able to turn a blind eye to it all, he’ll fit right in as Art Briles’ successor.
