The New York Knicks are reportedly interested in Greg Monroe.

The New York Knicks have made many adjustments to improve their roster in the off-season. They traded for Derrick Rose and have since signed Joakim Noah, Courtney Lee and Brandon Jennings to deals.

The plan for the New York Knicks in the 2016-2017 season is to incorporate Rose, Lee and Noah into the starting lineup to go with franchise player Carmelo Anthony and budding star Kristaps Porzingis .

Yet with all the moves that the Knicks have made, they don’t seem to be done just yet, as the team is reportedly interested in Greg Monroe.

The Knicks’ interest seems to have come out of nowhere, with New York not being a likely trade destination for Greg Monroe just a month ago. According to Sam Amico of Amico Sports, “The Knicks are among the teams with an interest in available Bucks center Greg Monroe.”

However, a Greg Monroe trade to New York will likely need help from a third party as Amico states, “The Knicks would likely need a third team to help facilitate a trade for Monroe and more likely would need to wait until at least December.”

What’s ironic about this situation is that many believed Greg Monroe was going to sign with New York last summer, but he ultimately spurned them and decided to join the Milwaukee Bucks.

The Knicks’ interest in Monroe seems a little absurd, as a trade to New York will likely land Greg Monroe on the bench in New York unless newly signed Joakim Noah is included in the trade. I don’t see the point in trading for Greg Monroe, even if it doesn’t come until December, because the Knicks just signed Noah to a $72 million contract, and Noah seems intent on proving his worth in the Big Apple after a down year in Chicago.
