NBA star Stephen Curry is listed as among the favorites to win the upcoming celebrity golf tournament in Lake Tahoe, Nevada.

He’s not only an NBA champion and excellent shooter, but he may soon also be a golf champion if his shots fall on the course. Reigning NBA MVP Stephen Curry of the Golden State Warriors was listed up near the favorites to win the American Century Championship in Lake Tahoe, Nevada.

On July 21, Fox Sports reported that Curry was given 6 to 1 odds to win the tournament. That placed the NBA superstar at third overall and tied with former football star Mark Rypien. Only two players rank above them, both baseball stars, as Eric Gagne was given 5 to 1 odds and Mark Mulder 4 to 1 odds to make him the favorite to win it.

While Curry was considered a favorite and his popularity reaches around the globe, his most recent Finals result hasn’t escaped the minds of some naysayers. Apparently, the Golden State All-Star was being heckled by a fan after missing a shot on the course.

In addition to Curry, former NBA player and current coach, Vinny Del Negro is up in the top 10 with odds of 25 to 1. Others up in their company include former NHL star Jeremy Roenick at 15 to 1 and Sterling Sharpe of NFL fame at 25 to 1.

Of note, another basketball legend, Sir Charles Barkley, is also getting publicity for his odds. Unfortunately for the “Round Mound of Rebound,” he was listed with heavy underdog odds of 6000 to 1. It may have drawn some action at various sports books, but it’s been said that many bettors simply want something for the NBA great to autograph.

The American Century Championship was scheduled to begin Friday and runs through the weekend in Lake Tahoe, so it will certainly be interesting to see who emerges from the field of athletes and celebrities. If Curry takes home the win, he could be adding a second sport to his resume when his basketball days are over.
