In an interview with the NFL Network, Charles Barkley sounded off on the rivalry between Odell Beckham Jr. and Josh Norman, saying OBJ is getting “too famous.”

Charles Barkley is quickly becoming one of the biggest hot take machines in the sports media industry. Despite admitting that he’s only met Beckham one time, Barkley thinks he’s getting too famous. Thank god we have someone close to the situation to sound off on Odell Beckham’s use of his fame. Barkley said,

"“And I think Odell Beckham is a stud and he’s getting a lot of commercials, but I think he’s starting to get to the point where he’s becoming too famous instead of worrying how to become a great football player. I think he needs to be careful. Just lay low and just kick butt on the field. I mean, nobody cares about all that extracurricular stuff. And Josh Norman, he earned his money. Congratulations to that man.”"

Barkley, who is partly famous because he always spoke his mind, is telling a man to lay low and not speak his mind. The irony is palpable.

While it actually might be a good idea, coming from Barkley it just seems hypocritical. It’s the old, cantankerous announcer telling the young man not to make the same mistakes he did, even though those mistakes were crucial to his development as a person. It’s not wise to get in feuds. It’s also wise to let people live their own lives and not judge without the full information.
