According to a report with knowledge of Russell Westbrook’s Durant-less situation in Oklahoma City, the superstar point guard doesn’t want to be traded this season.

Russell Westbrook was just like most of the world when Kevin Durant decided to sign with the Golden State Warriors this summer: shocked.

Along with the surprise that Durant would be a Warrior, Westbrook felt a bit “angry and hurt” by Durant’s decision to not only leave the Oklahoma City Thunder, but according to ESPN’s Royce Young, Durant didn’t even even call Westbrook and tell him about his future plans.

Ever since Durant bolted for Oakland to form the NBA’s most deadliest quartet of stars in Oakland, all eyes have been on Westbrook. Would he commit to a long-term deal from the Thunder? The thing about that is, Westbrook’s deal isn’t up until the end of the 2016-17 season.

According to Young, Westbrook doesn’t want to be traded this season, even without his former running mate in Oklahoma City.

"According to sources with knowledge of the situation, he doesn’t want to be traded. He wants to play next season with the Thunder. It’s the year after that which is in question. There’s a growing belief Westbrook will think heavily about an extension but will first weigh every angle before doing it. And with [Dion] Waiters agreeing to terms with the Miami Heat, the Thunder can now officially present that extension to Westbrook."

If that’s true and Durant didn’t talk to Westbrook about his plans to head for the Warriors, then you can’t help but feel for him. They were easily the most dynamic duo in the NBA, they’re both among the top 10 players in the entire league and they were one game away from the NBA Finals last season.

Westbrook staying in Oklahoma City keeps them afloat for a while longer, but if he doesn’t commit to them for the long haul, that could spell the end of a fun era for the Thunder with Durant and Serge Ibaka playing elsewhere as well.
