Guy Fieri is a huge Golden State Warriors fan. Seen courtside at plenty of Warriors regular season and playoff games, the restaurateur and star on the Food Network gets to see up close how good the Warriors have been the past few years.

When the time came for Kevin Durant to become a free agent, Fieri pounced on the opportunity to tell the player’s agent that he needed to come to Golden State. Maybe he is just as good at pursuasion as he is as cooking, because Durant will don the gold and blue next season.

Speaking with Justin Bolois of First We Feast, Fieri said he played a big role in the Golden State Warriors landing Durant.

“You can ask his agent, I said it to him during the Playoffs, Fieri told Bolois. “I even have the text. I said, It’s coming up, I want him, you gotta bring him.”

Despite Durant’s agent sounding like he was blowing off his friend, later on, Fieri saw a text from his buddy that simply said, “KD GS.”

Obviously Fieri played absolutely no role in Durant coming to Golden State, but there is no harm in him thinking he did. Maybe when the Warriors play the Cleveland Cavaliers in next year’s NBA Finals, he can make his way over to LeBron James’ agent and try to do the same.

The Golden State Warriors head into the 2016-17 season as the odds-on favorite to repeat as champions in the Western Conference. With a starting lineup that includes Durant, Curry, Draymond Green, and Klay Thompson, they should make a return to the NBA Finals for the third straight year.
