With the MLB trade deadline just a day away, MLB trade rumors have been swirling about who might possibly be traded. During this time of year, starting pitching is always a priority for contending teams, but it is hard to come by.

According to Joel Sherman, a lot of teams have expressed interest in starting pitcher Patrick Corbin. Interest is Corbin is an intriguing thing to monitor, as he once showed great potential, but has struggled this season.

In 2013, Corbin emerged as a very talented young pitcher, as he totaled a 14-8 record and 3.41 ERA. Unfortunately for Corbin, the over 200 innings pitched for Corbin in 2013 might have caused some wear and tear on his arm, as he missed the entire 2014 season because of Tommy John surgery,

Corbin made his return in the second half of last season for the Diamondbacks and pitched fairly well. In 2014, Corbin totaled 16 starts and a 3.60 ERA. The Diamondbacks had a big offseason with the signing of Zack Greinke, who they hope along with Corbin would help them become the team to beat in the National League West.

Instead of competing for an NL West title this season, the Diamondbacks find themselves in fifth place in the division, and the poor season from Corbin has contributed to that. This season, Corbin has totaled a 4-9 record and 5.31 ERA.

Corbin has clearly struggled this season, but teams that are looking for a starter might be willing to take a chance on him because of what he has done in past years. The Diamondbacks have not moved to trade him according to Sherman, but that can all change if the right offer comes in for the left-hander.
