P.K. Subban returned to Montreal for a comedy event and he took absolutely no prisoners.

For better or worse, P.K. Subban’s tenure with the Montreal Canadiens was characterized by his off-ice actions as much as his on-ice actions. Fans will remember the way he donated $10 million to a local hospital, and also curse up a storm in the team’s dressing room. His personality was larger than life, and Canadiens fans were reminded of that once again at a charity gala for the city’s annual Just for Laughs festival.

Subban was scheduled to make an appearance at the gala before the blockbuster trade involving Shea Weber, but once he spoke, he couldn’t avoid the elephant in the room. Now that he’s free from the clutches of Michel Therrien and Marc Bergevin, he let loose his feelings towards them through a series of thinly-veiled subtweets and songs:

But he wasn’t done there. When it came to his new team, the Nashville Predators, he couldn’t help but take a shot at his new city as well:

"If there’s one thing I’ve tried to do in all the cities I’ve played in, it’s immerse myself in the local culture. In Belleville, I learned how to sail, when I moved to Montreal, I learned how to speak French – right ladies? And in Hamilton, I learned how to breathe through my mouth. So now that I’m living in Nashville, it’s time I learned more about … That’s right, getting pulled over by the cops"

Love him or hate him, P.K. Subban’s personality is nothing but good for the NHL, as he always provides an endless supply of outstanding quotes. It helps, too, that he’s one of the league’s premier defensemen. The Habs may be pleased that they swapped a perceived attitude problem for a high-end defenseman in Shea Weber, but they will live to regret this decision down the road.
