DeMar DeRozan isn’t quite the household name like Kevin Durant just yet, but if he continues to dazzle crowds and viewers with his highlights for Team USA he may get that increased recognition. The latest DeRozan dunk even stopped KD in his tracks as he witnessed amazing play in person. The Toronto Raptors guard threw down a nasty side jam to add early insult to injury in the latest USMNT rout.
As seen in the Vine video above, DeRozan gets a pass from DeMarcus Cousins near the corner of the three-point line. From there, he takes one dribble down the baseline before it’s liftoff. The Raptors All-Star rises up and completes the jam to posterize one of Nigeria’s players.
The crowd’s reaction is one thing as they “ohhh” at the spectacular highlight reel worthy dunk. It’s teammate Kevin Durant who was looking for a possible wide open three-pointer that shows his own awe at DeRozan’s dunk. Durant simply freezes and drops his head back in amazement. He’s not only a player but also a spectator, as all the teammates seem they’ll enjoy this run together.
This hasn’t been his first impressive jam of the Team USA exhibitions. He completed a fastbreak windmill jam and nearly landed a 360 in other games. While these are only practice for the United States squad, it’s likely DeRozan will be showcasing more of his hops as the team begins their Rio Olympics journey towards gold in the coming days.
