Perhaps the best way to describe field hockey would be a sport that you only think about every four years. However, that doesn’t make Olympics field hockey any less exciting and enjoyable. On Day 1 of the 2016 Rio Olympics on August 6, both the men’s and women’s competitions will get underway.

Here’s a look at the men’s and women’s Olympics field hockey action that will take place on Saturday, August 6:

Men’s Field Hockey:

Argentina vs Netherlands, 9 a.m. ET
India vs Ireland, 10 a.m. ET
Belgium vs Great Britain, 11:30 a.m. ET
Australia vs New Zealand, 12:30 p.m. ET
Canada vs Germany, 5 p.m. ET
Spain vs Brazil, 6:30 p.m. ET

Women’s Field Hockey:

Argentina vs USA, 4 p.m. ET
Great Britain vs Australia, 7:30 p.m. ET

It’s a packed slate of action for the men’s field hockey competition while the women’s slate is much lighter with only two games taking place on Saturday. However, it’s worth noting for Americans that Team USA women’s field hockey squad will have a big opening match against Argentina.

Unfortunately, the USA women’s field hockey game will be the only one broadcast on TV throughout Saturday with that coverage being on USA Network. Outside of that, all of the games will be available for live streaming on NBCOlympics.com and the NBC Sports app simply by logging in with a cable or satellite subscription.
