Twitter had a lot of fun with the intensity of Michael Phelps’ expression before he hit the pool.

Michael Phelps already has broken just about every record and has claimed every medal there is to be won in Olympic swimming. Still, Phelps hasn’t slowed down and he’s hoping to tack on even more medals in Rio.
After winning his 19th gold medal the other night in the relay, Phelps is still as intense as ever before each race. For some reason, Twitter has fallen in love with Phelps’ game face and they’re enjoying making jokes and memes about his facial expressions.
And yes, someone’s already pointed out him clenching his fist is like the damn Arthur meme that has inundated all the meme machines around the web.

Simply put, Phelps is breaking the internet with his reaction and it is becoming the new meme that is taking over. It’s just so perfect.
That has expression is everything that memes were meant for and this thing is likely to live on through the Olympics and past it.
Not only is Phelps an American treasure, he’s also a meme treasure officially going forward.
