Now that he’s a member of the Chicago Bulls, NBA superstar Dwyane Wade has found his newest place to reside. The former Miami Heat player is now leasing a new Gold Coast mansion along with wife Gabrielle Union. Gold Coast is a historic district in Illinois and this particular home has some interesting ties to both the 1880s and 1980s.

The Chicago Tribune reports that the property had an asking price of just $9.5 million back in April. It’s a mere 11,000-square-foot piece of property which includes quite a list of features. Among them are the finished basement complete with 148-inch projection screen and a 720-bottle wine fridge. There’s also a three-car garage for a few of D-Wade’s rides.

Adding to the home is the heated driveway, which is perfect for all those cold winter days in Illinois. Also, in keeping with the times, the eight-bedroom Victorian mansion (built in the late 1800s) has complete “smart home” automation. That will make life much easier for Wade as he concentrates on basketball with the Bulls.

By the way, this home was also featured on the popular sitcom “Webster” back in the 1980s. In the show, the title character Webster, played by Emannuel Lewis, lost his parents in a car crash and was taken in by his football star godfather George Papadopolis and wife Katherine. It’s unknown if Wade is planning to have a house party, but one would think Lewis might get an invite.

This isn’t Wade’s first home he’s owned in the area either. He purchased a River North townhouse for over $1.4 million in 2009 and would go on to sell it in 2014 for $1.7 million. Not a bad investment.

However, he also had a bit of a flop with the seven-bedroom South Holland home he owned. That one was turned over to his ex-wife Siovaughn Funches in their divorce. It sold for just $300,000 last month.

The latest digs are more than affordable for Wade and Union. The newest member of the Bulls inked a two-year contract worth $47.5 million back in July, leaving his longtime team, the Heat. It will certainly be a change living in the colder climate of the Chicago area after Miami, but based on all that this new crib includes, it should be an easy adjustment.
