The final synchronized event will take place on Wednesday, with the men taking to the springboard for the 3m Synchronized Springboard Final. As always, China is expected to take the gold medal in the event, but Russia does have the talent to pull an upset. Below is the lineup for viewing online, and on TV.

Date: Wednesday, August 10
Start Time: 3 p.m. ET
Location: Rio de Janeiro, Brazil

The Chinese team of Qin Kai and Cao Yuan is a heavy favorite, and it would likely take a miracle for them to not come away with a gold medal. In his last nine major international competitions, Kai has lost only once, though it was in Rio at the World Cup. Still, the pair rebounded to win the 2016 World Series in Beijing, and are poised to add another top finish on Wednesday.

During the 2012 London Olympics, Kai won the gold in this event, teaming with Luo Yutong. His partner in 2016, Cao Yuan, also won gold in London, though it was in the 10m Synchronized Platform Final. It is a formidable team, and should give China it’s fourth diving gold already this Summer.

If China were to win the gold on Wednesday, it would give them the gold medal in four of the last five Olympics, with their only loss coming at the 2004 Athens Olympics.

The United States actually took home bronze in this event in 2012, as the team of Troy Dumais and Kristian Ipsen found their way to the podium. Russia won the silver in London, and will likely earn the same medal in Rio.
