Eden Hazard got the scoring started for Chelsea on Monday, starting off their Premier League campaign right

It has been a fun opening weekend of the 2016-17 Premier League season, but the fun was not all over on Monday. No, we were still able to be treated to one more match in the opening week, this one between Chelsea and West Ham United. And while the scoring was stagnant in the first half, Eden Hazard made sure that this was not the case in the second half.

Chelsea is coming off a miserable season last year, that much we all know. So if there was any club wanting to make quite the impression during the opening week, it’s the former Premier League champions from two seasons ago. Oh yeah, and not to mention, they’re trying to make a good impression under new manager Antonio Conte.

Well, after the scoring was invisible in the first half, Hazard was able to change all of that and come through for his side when they needed him, striking in this penalty kick to give them the 1-0 lead as the match winds down.

While it took them until the second half, that is exactly what this team needed, because we all remember what they went through last season.

Last year this Chelsea club came in on top of the world as Premier League champs, but they showed quickly that they were not going to be in a position to defend that crown of theirs. Ultimately, it saw the firing of Jose Mourinho and the change to Conte, who so far is sitting rather pretty with the 1-0 lead.

Whether or not this season can be one like two years ago for Chelsea remains to be seen, but for the time being, they’re certainly getting off on the right foot.
