Joey Bosa’s representatives dig in with statement criticizing the San Diego Chargers and their handling of the contract negotiation.

Things continue to get uglier in the Joey Bosa/San Diego Chargers contract negotiation saga. The disagreement between the two sides is reaching a high school break-up level situation following a statement issued earlier today by the Chargers.

It’s now Bosa’s turn, as his representatives issued a statement in response to the one released by the team.

At this point it’s tough to think that there is any way to fix the relationship between the Chargers and Bosa’s camp. Not only are the two sides substantially far apart in negotiations, but now they’re publicly bickering back and forth, making this an ugly situation.

It’s difficult to say that one side is more in the right than the other at this point. However, following the announcement that Chargers defensive tackle Damion Square will be suspended for the first four games of the season, things are quickly getting worse for the Chargers.

It’s looking more likely that Bosa won’t see the field this year as a member of the Chargers and in that case, he could enter the 2017 NFL Draft. If Bosa chooses to re-enter the draft, it’s tough to imagine many teams spending a top pick on a player with an already controversial history.

For what it’s worth, it sounds like Bosa has been looking like an amazing prospect during his workouts in Florida:

Bosa working out like a madman would be great news for the Chargers…if a contract had been signed by now. Unfortunately, that doesn’t appear to be the case anytime soon.
