The Saturday before WWE Survivor Series, an NXT TakeOver special will be going down in Toronto, ON
WWE made Canadian fans quite happy when they announced that WWE Survivor Series 2016 would be held in Toronto, ON. After all, it’s the first pay-per-view event in Toronto since Unforgiven 2006. However, Triple H and the company aren’t stopping there. In fact, they’re delivering the goods in a big way. On Friday morning, the COO of WWE and proverbial godfather of NXT announced that the next NXT Takeover special would take place in Toronto the night before Survivor Series.
Confirmed on WWE.com, NXT TakeOver: Toronto will take place on Saturday, Nov. 19. According to the release, the show will feature all of the NXT Champions. That included Shinsuke Nakamura, Asuka, and The Revival.
Of course, you also have to imagine that Bobby Roode will be prominently involved. Not only are he and his theme song one of the most over things in wrestling, but he’s also from Ontario, Canada and lives in Toronto. Subsequently, him getting a major hometown pop is to be expected. Moreover, another Canadian in Tye Dillinger should receive a nice (and deserved) ovation as well.
Regardless of who will be there, though, it’s great to see this all taking place in Toronto. From that area going over to Montreal and all over the country, there is a deep wrestling history. So to have so few big events like this north of the United State border seems crazy. However, they’re coming for Survivor Series and are going to do it big.
Perhaps the big question, though, is if WWE and NXT will have any major surprises in store. Could we see other Canadians like Kevin Owens or Sami Zayn appear on NXT TakeOver: Toronto? Who knows what all they have in store. However, everyone can start anticipating what’s going to be a massive NXT and WWE weekend in the city. Tickets will go on sale on Sept. 23 at 10 a.m. ET.
