Alabama Crimson Tide defensive back Marlon Humphrey rocked USC Trojans wide receiver Steven Mitchell Jr. with a vicious hit early on.

The USC Trojans and Alabama Crimson Tide came out in a spirited battle to start on Saturday night. Both teams were aiming for the big hit and the shoulder pads were popping on the field. However, it was Alabama defensive back Marlon Humphrey that brought the big hit early.

As USC quarterback Max Browne found wide receiver Steven Mitchell Jr. on the field, Mitchell Jr. quickly ran out of real estate. Running around look for refuge from the oncoming defenders, Mitchell Jr. tried to cut up field. That’s when Humphrey hit him head on and knocked Mitchell Jr. back hard.

If there’s something more impressive than Humphrey’s hit here, it’s the fact that Mitchell Jr. was able to hold on the ball. It started to bobble a bit, but he was able to hold onto the pass and it ultimately led to the Trojans being able to run out the kicking unit. The Trojans were able to get some points up early against a strong Alabama defense.

However, it was Humphrey delivering a message to everyone early on. That message was that if they come his way, he’s going to lay a vicious hit right on them.
